Presentation of development centers of the Slovenian economy
The presentation of the Slovenian development centers was held on the 21st of May in Kranj.
The event was an opportunity for the centers to present their current work and achieved results. The meeting included a round table discussion which focused on the development prospects of the Slovenian economy in the new financial perspective 2014-2020.
Letrika developed in collaboration with local partners and SiEVA a modern high-voltage drive system
After three years of development Letrika d.d. on may the 13th presented a state-of-the-art high-voltage drive system comprised of a high-voltage motor inverter and a synchronous electric motor. The system, which is meant to be used in electric cars weighting more than one tone, has a declared continuous power of 50 kW and a peak power in excess of 65 kW.
The very compact and virtually maintenance-free drive system has an efficiency of over 90% or approximately three times the efficiency of an internal combustion engine. The system is capable of energy recuperation: it converts the mechanical breaking torque of the vehicle into useful electrical energy, which is again stored in the battery, thereby extending the driving range.
Letrika has been involved in the development of drive systems for many years. The company successfully connects various scientific and educational institutions: the presented electric motor was fully developed by Letrika while the development of the motor inverter took place in SiEVA d.o.o. which is co-financed by national and EU funds, and partly in cooperation with TECES.
The high-voltage drive system is now undergoing real-life-conditions testing in the Institute Metron in which the renowned Slovenian innovator and promoter of electric cars Andrej Pečjak also takes an active part. The fully electric family minivan (a converted Mazda 5) in which the Letrika’s HV drive system is installed, has proven its excellency: the consumption of a fully loaded vehicle does not exceed 200 Wh per kilometer, which means that at a price of under 0,1 € per kWh the cost of the consumed electric energy for a trip of 100 km comes at around 2 €.
The featured drive system and its components are of great importance for the further expansion of Letrika’s production program and a great opportunity for a further research cooperation of SiEVA in the field of green technologies. Letrika is already establishing contacts with specific customers and forming new joint-development projects.
